mtd: nand: omap: ecc.correct: omap_elm_correct_data: fix erased-page detection for BCHx_HW ECC schemes
As erased-pages do not have ECC stored in their OOB area, so they need to be
seperated out from programmed-pages, before doing BCH ECC correction.
In current implementation of omap_elm_correct_data() which does ECC correction
for BCHx ECC schemes, this erased-pages are detected based on specific marker
byte (reserved as 0x00) in ecc-layout.
However, this approach has some limitation like;
1) All ecc-scheme layouts do not have such Reserved byte marker to
differentiate between erased-page v/s programmed-page. Thus this is a
customized solution.
2) Reserved marker byte can itself be subjected to bit-flips causing
erased-page to be misunderstood as programmed-page.
This patch removes dependency on any marker byte in ecc-layout, instead it
compares calc_ecc[] with pattern of ECC-of-all(0xff). This implicitely
means that both 'data + oob == all(0xff).

mtd: Fix the behavior of OTP write if there is not enough room for data
If a write to one time programmable memory (OTP) hits the end of this
memory area, no more data can be written. The count variable in
mtdchar_write() in drivers/mtd/mtdchar.c is not decreased anymore.
We are trapped in the loop forever, mtdchar_write() will never return
in this case.
The desired behavior of a write in such a case is described in [1]:
- Try to write as much data as possible, truncate the write to fit into
the available memory and return the number of bytes that actually
have been written.
- If no data could be written at all, return -ENOSPC.
This patch fixes the behavior of OTP write if there is not enough space
for all data:
1) mtd_write_user_prot_reg() in drivers/mtd/mtdcore.c is modified to
return -ENOSPC if no data could be written at all.
2) mtdchar_write() is modified to handle -ENOSPC correctly. Exit if a
write returned -ENOSPC and yield the correct return value, either
then number of bytes that could be written, or -ENOSPC, if no data
could be written at all.
Furthermore the patch harmonizes the behavior of the OTP memory write
in drivers/mtd/devices/mtd_dataflash.c with the other implementations
and the requirements from [1]. Instead of returning -EINVAL if the data
does not fit into the OTP memory, we try to write as much data as
possible/truncate the write.

mtd: gpmi: add subpage read support
1) Why add the subpage read support?
The page size of the nand chip becomes larger and larger, the imx6 has to
supports the 16K page or even bigger page. But sometimes, the upper layer only
needs a small part of the page, such as 512 bytes or less.
For example, ubiattach may only read 64 bytes per page.
2) We only enable the subpage read support when it meets the conditions:
<1> the chip is imx6 (or later chips) which can supports large nand page.
<2> the size of ECC parity is byte aligned.
If the size of ECC parity is not byte aligned, the calling of NAND_CMD_RNDOUT
will fail.
3) What does this patch do?
This patch will fake a virtual small page for the subpage read, and call the
gpmi_ecc_read_page() to do the real work.
In order to fake a virtual small page, the patch changes the BCH registers and
the bch_geometry{}. After the subpage read finished, we will restore them back.

The variable csize in structure jffs2_tmp_dnode_info is of type uint16_t, but it
is used to hold the compressed data length(csize) which is declared as uint32_t.
So, when the value of csize exceeds 16bits, it gets truncated when assigned to
tn->csize. This is causing a kernel BUG.
Changing the definition of csize in jffs2_tmp_dnode_info to uint32_t fixes the issue.

This crash is caused because the 'positions' is declared as an array of signed
short. The value of position is in the range 0..65535, and will be converted
to a negative number when the position is greater than 32767 and causes a
corruption and crash. Changing the definition to 'unsigned short' fixes this

mtd: nand: force NAND_CMD_READID onto 8-bit bus
The NAND command helpers tend to automatically shift the column address
for x16 bus devices, since most commands expect a word address, not a
byte address. The Read ID command, however, expects an 8-bit address
(i.e., 0x00, 0x20, or 0x40 should not be translated to 0x00, 0x10, or
0x20).
This fixes the column address for a few drivers which imitate the
nand_base defaults. Note that I don't touch sh_flctl.c, since it already
handles this problem slightly differently (note its comment "READID is
always performed using an 8-bit bus").
I have not tested this patch, as I only have x8 parts up for testing at
this point. Hopefully that can change soon...

This patch disables the DMA for nand_scan_ident, and restores the DMA

b2a2a84d35e0f42ad26e326ec4258f6a8b8eecbe (mtd: phram: dot not crash when

c4e7fb313771ac03dfdca26d30e8b721731c562b), but it has
missed the crucial point of the original path: all these "if(n)def MODULE".
It has broken the possibility to create several phram instances when phram is
compiled as module. The possibility to add instances via /sys writes to

Proposed patch takes the idea of original block2mtd patch to its full extent.
Assumption "This function is always called before 'init_phram()'" was also

KEYS: Make the keyring cycle detector ignore other keyrings of the same name
This fixes CVE-2014-0102.
The following command sequence produces an oops:
keyctl new_session
i=`keyctl newring _ses @s`
keyctl link @s $i
The problem is that search_nested_keyrings() sees two keyrings that have
matching type and description, so keyring_compare_object() returns true.
s_n_k() then passes the key to the iterator function -
keyring_detect_cycle_iterator() - which *should* check to see whether this is
the keyring of interest, not just one with the same name.
Because assoc_array_find() will return one and only one match, I assumed that
the iterator function would only see an exact match or never be called - but
the iterator isn't only called from assoc_array_find()...
The oops looks something like this:
kernel BUG at /data/fs/linux-2.6-fscache/security/keys/keyring.c:1003!
invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] SMP
...
RIP: keyring_detect_cycle_iterator+0xe/0x1f

SyS_keyctl+0x65/0xe4
tracesys+0xdd/0xe2
The fix is to make keyring_detect_cycle_iterator() check that the key it
has is the key it was actually looking for rather than calling BUG_ON().
A testcase has been included in the keyutils testsuite for this:

- If the ACPI sleep control and status registers are not present (which
happens if the Hardware Reduced ACPI mode bit is set in the ACPI
tables, but also may result from BIOS bugs), we should not try to use
ACPI to power off the system and ACPI S5 should not be listed as
supported. Fix from Aubrey Li.
- There's a race condition in cpufreq_get() that leads to a kernel
crash if that function is called at a wrong time. Fix from Aaron
Plattner.
- cpufreq policy objects have to be initialized entirely before they
are first accessed by their users which isn't the case currently and
that potentially leads to various kinds of breakage that is difficult
to debug. Fix from Viresh Kumar.
- Locking is missing in __cpufreq_add_dev() which leads to a race
condition that may trigger a kernel crash. Fix from Viresh Kumar.

x86: fix compile error due to X86_TRAP_NMI use in asm files
It's an enum, not a #define, you can't use it in asm files.
Introduced in commit
5fa10196bdb5 ("x86: Ignore NMIs that come in during
early boot"), and sadly I didn't compile-test things like I should have
before pushing out.
My weak excuse is that the x86 tree generally doesn't introduce stupid
things like this (and the ARM pull afterwards doesn't cause me to do a
compile-test either, since I don't cross-compile).

Pull tracing fix from Steven Rostedt:
"In the past, I've had lots of reports about trace events not working.
Developers would say they put a trace_printk() before and after the
trace event but when they enable it (and the trace event said it was
enabled) they would see the trace_printks but not the trace event.
I was not able to reproduce this, but that's because I wasn't looking
at the right location. Recently, another bug came up that showed the
issue.
If your kernel supports signed modules but allows for non-signed
modules to be loaded, then when one is, the kernel will silently set
the MODULE_FORCED taint on the module. Although, this taint happens
without the need for insmod --force or anything of the kind, it labels
the module with that taint anyway.
If this tainted module has tracepoints, the tracepoints will be
ignored because of the MODULE_FORCED taint. But no error message will
be displayed. Worse yet, the event infrastructure will still be
created letting users enable the trace event represented by the
tracepoint, although that event will never actually be enabled. This
is because the tracepoint infrastructure allows for non-existing
tracepoints to be enabled for new modules to arrive and have their
tracepoints set.
Although there are several things wrong with the above, this change
only addresses the creation of the trace event files for tracepoints
that are not created when a module is loaded and is tainted. This
change will print an error message about the module being tainted and
not the trace events will not be created, and it does not create the
trace event infrastructure"

x86: Ignore NMIs that come in during early boot
Don Zickus reports:
A customer generated an external NMI using their iLO to test kdump
worked. Unfortunately, the machine hung. Disabling the nmi_watchdog
made things work.
I speculated the external NMI fired, caused the machine to panic (as
expected) and the perf NMI from the watchdog came in and was latched.
My guess was this somehow caused the hang.
----
It appears that the latched NMI stays latched until the early page
table generation on 64 bits, which causes exceptions to happen which
end in IRET, which re-enable NMI. Therefore, ignore NMIs that come in
during early execution, until we have proper exception handling.

usb: Make DELAY_INIT quirk wait 100ms between Get Configuration requests
The DELAY_INIT quirk only reduces the frequency of enumeration failures
with the Logitech HD Pro C920 and C930e webcams, but does not quite
eliminate them. We have found that adding a delay of 100ms between the
first and second Get Configuration request makes the device enumerate
perfectly reliable even after several weeks of extensive testing. The
reasons for that are anyone's guess, but since the DELAY_INIT quirk
already delays enumeration by a whole second, wating for another 10th of

it will resolve the problems with these webcams.
