gpio: rcar: Prevent module clock disable when wake-up is enabled
When the GPIO module is needed for wake-up, it's module clock must not
be disabled. Hence implement irq_chip.irq_set_wake(), which
increments/decrements the clock's enable_count when needed, and forwards
the wake-up state to the upstream interrupt controller.
This fixes wake-up from s2ram using gpio-keys when using a PM Domain to
manage the module clock.

gpio: dwapb: enable for Quark
The Intel Quark SoC contains the DW GPIO on board. While fixing the build error
the commit
1972c97db5b0 (gpio: dwapb: fix compile errors) disables the
possibility to build the driver on X86, i.e. Intel Quark.
The patch reenables it for Intel Quark as well.
Since we have Intel Quark SoC introduced in 4.0-rc1 I would like to make this
fix available there as well, though the actual MFD driver [1] is applied only
for next version.

gpio / ACPI: Use local variable instead of ACPI_HANDLE()
In acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupts() the handle local
variable already contains the value that we want to pass
to acpi_walk_resources(), so it is better to use that
variable instead of evaluating ACPI_HANDLE() once more
for the same device.

gpio / ACPI: Avoid unnecessary checks in __gpiod_get_index()
If dev is NULL in __gpiod_get_index() and both ACPI and OF are
enabled, it will be checked twice before the code decides to give
up with DT/ACPI lookup, so avoid that.
Also use the observation that ACPI_COMPANION() is much more efficient
than ACPI_HANDLE(), because the latter uses the former and carries out
a check and a pointer dereference on top of it, so replace the
ACPI_HANDLE() check with an ACPI_COMPANION() one which does not
require the additional IS_ENABLED(CONFIG_ACPI) check too.

The gpio binding document says that new code should always use named
gpios. Patch
40b73183 added support to parse a list of gpios from child
nodes, but does not make it possible to use named gpios. This patch adds
the con_id property and implements it is done in gpiolib.c, where the
old-style of using unnamed gpios still works.

gpio: pcf857x: Propagate wake-up setting to parent irq controller
The pcf857x GPIO and interrupt controller uses dummy_irq_chip, which
does not implement irq_chip.irq_set_wake() and does not set
IRQCHIP_SKIP_SET_WAKE.
This causes two s2ram issues if wake-up is enabled for the pcf857x GPIO
pins:
1. During resume from s2ram, the following warning is printed:
WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 1046 at kernel/irq/manage.c:537 irq_set_irq_wake+0x9c/0xf8()
Unbalanced IRQ 113 wake disable
2. Wake-up through the pcf857x GPIO pins may fail, as the parent
interrupt controller may be suspended.
Migrate the pcf857x GPIO and interrupt controller from dummy_irq_chip to
its own irq_chip. This irq chip implements irq_chip.irq_set_wake() to
propagate its wake-up setting to the parent interrupt controller.
This fixes wake-up through gpio-keys on sh73a0/kzm9g, where the pcf857x
interrupt is cascaded to irq-renesas-intc-irqpin, and the latter must
not be suspended when wake-up is enabled.

gpio: pcf857x: Switch to use gpiolib irqchip helpers
Switch the PCF857x GPIO driver to use the gpiolib irqchip helpers.
This driver uses a nested threaded interrupt, hence handle_nested_irq()
and gpiochip_set_chained_irqchip() must be used.
Note that this removes the checks added in commit
21fd3cd1874a2ac8
("gpio: pcf857x: call the gpio user handler iff gpio_to_irq is done"),
as the interrupt mappings are no longer created on-demand by the driver,
but by gpiochip_irqchip_add() during initialization.

gpio: add GPIO hogging mechanism
Based on Boris Brezillion's work this is a reworked patch
of his initial GPIO hogging mechanism.
This patch provides a way to initially configure specific GPIO
when the GPIO controller is probed.
The actual DT scanning to collect the GPIO specific data is performed
as part of gpiochip_add().
The purpose of this is to allow specific GPIOs to be configured
without any driver specific code.
This is particularly useful because board design are getting
increasingly complex and given SoC pins can now have more
than 10 mux values, a lot of connections are now dependent on
external IO muxes to switch various modes.
Specific drivers should not necessarily need to be aware of
what accounts to a specific board implementation. This board level
"description" should be best kept as part of the dts file.

Take a sweep to bring the irq support for the MAX732x expanders
into the gpiolib core to cut down on duplicated code.
Only compile tested! I need some feedback from people using this
expander with interrupts to tell me if things go right or
wrong when I do this.

.. after extensive statistical analysis of my G+ polling, I've come to
the inescapable conclusion that internet polls are bad.
Big surprise.
But "Hurr durr I'ma sheep" trounced "I like online polls" by a 62-to-38%
margin, in a poll that people weren't even supposed to participate in.
Who can argue with solid numbers like that? 5,796 votes from people who
can't even follow the most basic directions?
In contrast, "v4.0" beat out "v3.20" by a slimmer margin of 56-to-44%,
but with a total of 29,110 votes right now.
Now, arguably, that vote spread is only about 3,200 votes, which is less
than the almost six thousand votes that the "please ignore" poll got, so
it could be considered noise.
But hey, I asked, so I'll honor the votes.

debugfs: leave freeing a symlink body until inode eviction
As it is, we have debugfs_remove() racing with symlink traversals.
Supply ->evict_inode() and do freeing there - inode will remain
pinned until we are done with the symlink body.
And rip the idiocy with checking if dentry is positive right after
we'd verified debugfs_positive(), which is a stronger check...

trylock_super(): replacement for grab_super_passive()
I've noticed significant locking contention in memory reclaimer around
sb_lock inside grab_super_passive(). Grab_super_passive() is called from
two places: in icache/dcache shrinkers (function super_cache_scan) and
from writeback (function __writeback_inodes_wb). Both are required for
progress in memory allocator.
Grab_super_passive() acquires sb_lock to increment sb->s_count and check
sb->s_instances. It seems sb->s_umount locked for read is enough here:
super-block deactivation always runs under sb->s_umount locked for write.
Protecting super-block itself isn't a problem: in super_cache_scan() sb
is protected by shrinker_rwsem: it cannot be freed if its slab shrinkers
are still active. Inside writeback super-block comes from inode from bdi
writeback list under wb->list_lock.
This patch removes locking sb_lock and checks s_instances under s_umount:
generic_shutdown_super() unlinks it under sb->s_umount locked for write.
New variant is called trylock_super() and since it only locks semaphore,
callers must call up_read(&sb->s_umount) instead of drop_super(sb) when
they're done.

fanotify: Fix up scripted S_ISDIR/S_ISREG/S_ISLNK conversions
Fanotify probably doesn't want to watch autodirs so make it use d_can_lookup()
rather than d_is_dir() when checking a dir watch and give an error on fake
directories.

Fix up the following scripted S_ISDIR/S_ISREG/S_ISLNK conversions (or lack
thereof) in cachefiles:
(1) Cachefiles mostly wants to use d_can_lookup() rather than d_is_dir() as
it doesn't want to deal with automounts in its cache.
(2) Coccinelle didn't find S_IS* expressions in ASSERT() statements in
cachefiles.

VFS: (Scripted) Convert S_ISLNK/DIR/REG(dentry->d_inode) to d_is_*(dentry)
Convert the following where appropriate:
(1) S_ISLNK(dentry->d_inode) to d_is_symlink(dentry).
(2) S_ISREG(dentry->d_inode) to d_is_reg(dentry).
(3) S_ISDIR(dentry->d_inode) to d_is_dir(dentry). This is actually more
complicated than it appears as some calls should be converted to
d_can_lookup() instead. The difference is whether the directory in
question is a real dir with a ->lookup op or whether it's a fake dir with
a ->d_automount op.
In some circumstances, we can subsume checks for dentry->d_inode not being
NULL into this, provided we the code isn't in a filesystem that expects
d_inode to be NULL if the dirent really *is* negative (ie. if we're going to
use d_inode() rather than d_backing_inode() to get the inode pointer).
Note that the dentry type field may be set to something other than
DCACHE_MISS_TYPE when d_inode is NULL in the case of unionmount, where the VFS
manages the fall-through from a negative dentry to a lower layer. In such a
case, the dentry type of the negative union dentry is set to the same as the
type of the lower dentry.
However, if you know d_inode is not NULL at the call site, then you can use
the d_is_xxx() functions even in a filesystem.
There is one further complication: a 0,0 chardev dentry may be labelled
DCACHE_WHITEOUT_TYPE rather than DCACHE_SPECIAL_TYPE. Strictly, this was
intended for special directory entry types that don't have attached inodes.

VFS: Split DCACHE_FILE_TYPE into regular and special types
Split DCACHE_FILE_TYPE into DCACHE_REGULAR_TYPE (dentries representing regular
files) and DCACHE_SPECIAL_TYPE (representing blockdev, chardev, FIFO and
socket files).
d_is_reg() and d_is_special() are added to detect these subtypes and
d_is_file() is left as the union of the two.
This allows a number of places that use S_ISREG(dentry->d_inode->i_mode) to
use d_is_reg(dentry) instead.

VFS: Add a fallthrough flag for marking virtual dentries
Add a DCACHE_FALLTHRU flag to indicate that, in a layered filesystem, this is
a virtual dentry that covers another one in a lower layer that should be used
instead. This may be recorded on medium if directory integration is stored
there.
The flag can be set with d_set_fallthru() and tested with d_is_fallthru().

Add DCACHE_WHITEOUT_TYPE and provide a d_is_whiteout() accessor function. A
d_is_miss() accessor is also added for ordinary cache misses and
d_is_negative() is modified to indicate either an ordinary miss or an enforced
miss (whiteout).

VFS: Introduce inode-getting helpers for layered/unioned fs environments
Introduce some function for getting the inode (and also the dentry) in an
environment where layered/unioned filesystems are in operation.
The problem is that we have places where we need *both* the union dentry and
the lower source or workspace inode or dentry available, but we can only have
a handle on one of them. Therefore we need to derive the handle to the other
from that.
The idea is to introduce an extra field in struct dentry that allows the union
dentry to refer to and pin the lower dentry.

- Reduce the printk level of a recently added debug message related
to ACPI resources that may become noisy in some cases (Rafael J
Wysocki).
- Add a new ACPI backlight blacklist entry for Samsung Series 9
(900X3C/900X3D/900X3E/900X4C/900X4D) laptops where the native
backlight interface doesn't work while the ACPI based one does
(Jens Reyer).
- Make the PNP sybsystem's core code use __request_region() followed
by __release_region() instead of __check_region() which then will
allow us to get rid of the latter as it has no more users (Jakub
Sitnicki).
- Fix a build breakage and an issue with two __init functions that
may be called after initialization in the s3c cpufreq driver (Arnd
Bergmann).
- Make the powernv cpuidle driver read target_residency values for
idle states from a Device Tree (as we have the suitable DT bindings
for that now) and improve the parsing of the powermgmt DT node in
that driver (Preeti U Murthy)"

functions. struct clk no longer maps 1:1 with the hardware clock

kernel: make READ_ONCE() valid on const arguments
The use of READ_ONCE() causes lots of warnings witht he pending paravirt
spinlock fixes, because those ends up having passing a member to a
'const' structure to READ_ONCE().
There should certainly be nothing wrong with using READ_ONCE() with a
const source, but the helper function __read_once_size() would cause
warnings because it would drop the 'const' qualifier, but also because
the destination would be marked 'const' too due to the use of 'typeof'.
Use a union of types in READ_ONCE() to avoid this issue.
Also make sure to use parenthesis around the macro arguments to avoid
possible operator precedence issues.

When reading blkio.throttle.io_serviced in a recently created blkio
cgroup, it's possible to race against the creation of a throttle policy,

MIPS: mm: Remove dead macro definitions
In commit
c441d4a54c6e ("MIPS: mm: Only build one microassembler that
is suitable"), the Makefile at arch/mips/mm was rewritten to only
build the "right" microassembler file, depending on whether
CONFIG_CPU_MICROMIPS is set or not.
In the files, however, there are still preprocessor definitions
depending on CONFIG_CPU_MICROMIPS. The #ifdef around them can now
never evaluate to true, so let's remove them altogether.
This inconsistency was found using the undertaker-checkpatch tool.

i2c: ocores: rework clk code to handle NULL cookie
For, !HAVE_CLK the clk API returns a NULL cookie. Rework the
initialization code to handle that. If clk_get_rate() delivers 0, we use
the fallback mechanisms. The patch is pretty easy when ignoring white
space issues (git diff -b).

MIPS: OCTEON: Remove setting of processor specific CVMCTL icache bits.
CN38XX pass 1 required icache prefetching to be turned off. This chip never
reached production and is long dead. Other processor specific icache settings
are done by the bootloader. Remove these bits from the kernel.
