encrypted-keys: fix rcu and sparse messages

Enabling CONFIG_PROVE_RCU and CONFIG_SPARSE_RCU_POINTER resulted in
"suspicious rcu_dereference_check() usage!" and "incompatible types
in comparison expression (different address spaces)" messages.

Access the masterkey directly when holding the rwsem.

keys: fix trusted/encrypted keys sparse rcu_assign_pointer messages

Define rcu_assign_keypointer(), which uses the key payload.rcudata instead
of payload.data, to resolve the CONFIG_SPARSE_RCU_POINTER message:
"incompatible types in comparison expression (different address spaces)"

Replace the rcu_assign_pointer() calls in encrypted/trusted keys with
rcu_assign_keypointer().

KEYS: Add missing smp_rmb() primitives to the keyring search code

Add missing smp_rmb() primitives to the keyring search code.

When keyring payloads are appended to without replacement (thus using up spare
slots in the key pointer array), an smp_wmb() is issued between the pointer
assignment and the increment of the key count (nkeys).

There should be corresponding read barriers between the read of nkeys and
dereferences of keys[n] when n is dependent on the value of nkeys.

TOMOYO: Accept \000 as a valid character.

TOMOYO 2.5 in Linux 3.2 and later handles Unix domain socket's address.
Thus, tomoyo_correct_word2() needs to accept \000 as a valid character, or
TOMOYO 2.5 cannot handle Unix domain's abstract socket address.

mce: fix warning messages about static struct mce_device

When suspending, there was a large list of warnings going something like:

Device 'machinecheck1' does not have a release() function, it is broken and must be fixed

This patch turns the static mce_devices into dynamically allocated, and
properly frees them when they are removed from the system.  It solves
the warning messages on my laptop here.

hwmon: (sysfs-interface) Update tempX_type attribute to be more generic

The temp[1-*]_type attribute reports the temperature sensor type. Sensor type 1
is described as "PII/Celeron Diode", which is quite restrictive; other CPUs
may also have an embedded temperature sensor diode with similar characteristics.
Change description to "CPU embedded diode" to be more generic.

hwmon: (lm63) Expose automatic fan speed control lookup table

The LM63 and compatible devices have a lookup table to control the fan
speed automatically. Expose it in sysfs. Values are cached for 5
seconds, independently of the other register values to avoid slowing
down "sensors". We might make the table values writable in the future.

hwmon: (max1111) Change sysfs interface to in[0-3]_input in millivolts

This patch fixed the inconsistent max1111 sysfs interface as pointed
out by Jean Delvare:

    It was pointed to me that the max1111 driver doesn't implement the
    standard sysfs interface for hwmon drivers (as described in
    Documentation/hwmon/sysfs-interface). It exports files adc[0-3]_in,
    which
    aren't part of the standard interface. Presumably these should be
    renamed to in[0-3]_input. Renaming them is probably not sufficient
    though, as I see no scaling done in the driver. As the MAX1111 chip has
    a documented full scale of 2.048V, I take it that the LSB of the ADC
    has a weight of 8 mV. Exporting raw register values to user-space is
    not OK.

random: Adjust the number of loops when initializing

When we are initializing using arch_get_random_long() we only need to
loop enough times to touch all the bytes in the buffer; using
poolwords for that does twice the number of operations necessary on a
64-bit machine, since in the random number generator code "word" means
32 bits.

random: Use arch-specific RNG to initialize the entropy store

If there is an architecture-specific random number generator (such as
RDRAND for Intel architectures), use it to initialize /dev/random's
entropy stores.  Even in the worst case, if RDRAND is something like
AES(NSA_KEY, counter++), it won't hurt, and it will definitely help
against any other adversaries.

device (and defining its configuration structs) on !CONFIG_IOMMU_API.

This is generally nice to have, but more importantly, it fixes:

UBI: fix nameless volumes handling

Currently it's possible to create a volume without a name. E.g:
ubimkvol -n 32 -s 2MiB -t static /dev/ubi0 -N ""

After that vtbl_check() will always fail because it does not permit
empty strings.

fsnotify: don't BUG in fsnotify_destroy_mark()

Removing the parent of a watched file results in "kernel BUG at
fs/notify/mark.c:139".

To reproduce

  add "-w /tmp/audit/dir/watched_file" to audit.rules
  rm -rf /tmp/audit/dir

This is caused by fsnotify_destroy_mark() being called without an
extra reference taken by the caller.

Fix by removing the BUG_ON and adding a comment about not accessing mark after
the iput.

kbuild: Fix compiler warning with assertion when calling 'fwrite'

Reinhard Tartler discovered a corner case of calling xfwrite() where the
length of the string is zero.

Arnaud Lacombe suggested to use assertion for the corner case, as
fwrite(3) is currently used:

 1) in comment printers. Empty comment are not allowed.
 2) in a callback passed to expr_print(), where the string printed is
    either NULL OR non-empty.
 3) in the lexer, auto-generated, and unused.

I feel using assertion is a good solution:

 1) It cleanly takes care of the above-mentioned corner case.
 2) It can be easily disabled by defining NDEBUG.
 3) It asserts xfwrite() is simply a wrapper for fwrite().

block: fail SCSI passthrough ioctls on partition devices

Linux allows executing the SG_IO ioctl on a partition or LVM volume, and
will pass the command to the underlying block device.  This is
well-known, but it is also a large security problem when (via Unix
permissions, ACLs, SELinux or a combination thereof) a program or user
needs to be granted access only to part of the disk.

This patch lets partitions forward a small set of harmless ioctls;
others are logged with printk so that we can see which ioctls are
actually sent.  In my tests only CDROM_GET_CAPABILITY actually occurred.
Of course it was being sent to a (partition on a) hard disk, so it would
have failed with ENOTTY and the patch isn't changing anything in
practice.  Still, I'm treating it specially to avoid spamming the logs.

In principle, this restriction should include programs running with
CAP_SYS_RAWIO.  If for example I let a program access /dev/sda2 and
/dev/sdb, it still should not be able to read/write outside the
boundaries of /dev/sda2 independent of the capabilities.  However, for
now programs with CAP_SYS_RAWIO will still be allowed to send the
ioctls.  Their actions will still be logged.

This patch does not affect the non-libata IDE driver.  That driver
however already tests for bd != bd->bd_contains before issuing some
ioctl; it could be restricted further to forbid these ioctls even for
programs running with CAP_SYS_ADMIN/CAP_SYS_RAWIO.

Kbuild: Use dtc's -d (dependency) option

This hooks dtc into Kbuild's dependency system.

Thus, for example, "make dtbs" will rebuild tegra-harmony.dtb if only
tegra20.dtsi has changed yet tegra-harmony.dts has not. The previous
lack of this feature recently caused me to have very confusing "git
bisect" results.

For ARM, it's obvious what to add to $(targets). I'm not familiar enough
with other architectures to know what to add there. Powerpc appears to
already add various .dtb files into $(targets), but the other archs may
need something added to $(targets) to work.

merge_config.sh: fix bug in final check

Arnaud Lacombe pointed out the final checking that the requested configs
were included in the final .config was broken.

The example was that if you had a fragment that disabled
CONFIG_DECOMPRESS_GZIP applied to a normal defconfig, there would be no
final warning that CONFIG_DECOMPRESS_GZIP was acutally set in the final
.config.

This bug was introduced by me in v3 of the original patch, and the

merge_config.sh: use signal names compatible with dash and bash

The SIGHUP SIGINT and SIGTERM names caused failures when running
merge_config.sh with the dash shell.  Dropping the "SIG" component makes
the script work in both bash and dash.

kconfig: add merge_config.sh script

After noticing almost every distro has their own method of managing config
fragments, I went looking at some best practices, and wanted to try to
consolidate some of the different approaches so this fairly simple
infrastructure can be shared (and new distros/build systems don't have to
implement yet another config fragment merge script).

This script is most influenced by the Windriver tools used in the Yocto
Project, reusing some portions found there.

This script merges multiple config fragments, warning on any overridden
values.  It then sets any unspecified values to their default, then
finally checks to make sure no specified value was dropped due to
unsatisfied dependencies.

I'm sure this implementation won't work for everyone, and I expect it will
need to evolve to adapt for various use cases.  But I think its a
reasonable starting point.

GPIO: sa1100: implement proper gpiolib gpio_to_irq conversion

The existing gpio_to_irq() implementation on sa1100 only translates
validly for internal GPIOs.  Since this sub-arch enables GPIOLIB
support, this results in buggy translations for non-internal GPIOs.

Get rid of the private gpio_to_irq() implementation, replacing it
with the .to_irq method in the sa1100 gpio chip instead.

Unused iocbs in a batch should not be accounted as active.

Since commit 080d676de095 ("aio: allocate kiocbs in batches") iocbs are
allocated in a batch during processing of first iocbs.  All iocbs in a
batch are automatically added to ctx->active_reqs list and accounted in
ctx->reqs_active.

If one (not the last one) of iocbs submitted by an user fails, further
iocbs are not processed, but they are still present in ctx->active_reqs
and accounted in ctx->reqs_active.  This causes process to stuck in a D
state in wait_for_all_aios() on exit since ctx->reqs_active will never
go down to zero.  Furthermore since kiocb_batch_free() frees iocb
without removing it from active_reqs list the list become corrupted
which may cause oops.

Fix this by removing iocb from ctx->active_reqs and updating
ctx->reqs_active in kiocb_batch_free().

x86/mce: Fix CPU hotplug and suspend regression related to MCE

Commit 8a25a2fd126c ("cpu: convert 'cpu' and 'machinecheck' sysdev_class
to a regular subsystem") changed how things are dealt with in the MCE
subsystem.  Some of the things that got broken due to this are CPU
hotplug and suspend/hibernate.

MCE uses per_cpu allocations of struct device.  So, when a CPU goes
offline and comes back online, in order to ensure that we start from a
clean slate with respect to the MCE subsystem, zero out the entire
per_cpu device structure to 0 before using it.

PM / Hibernate: Drop the check of swap space size for compressed image

For compressed image, the space required is not known until
we finish compressing and writing all pages.
This patch drops the check, and if swap space is not enough
finally, system can still restore to normal after writing
swap fails for compressed images.

PM / Domains: Skip governor functions for CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME unset

The governor functions in drivers/base/power/domain_governor.c
are only used if CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME is set and they refer to data
structures that are only present in that case.  For this reason,
they shouldn't be compiled at all when CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME is not set.

PM: Make sysrq-o be available for CONFIG_PM unset

After commit 1eb208aea3179dd2fc0cdeea45ef869d75b4fe70, "PM: Make
CONFIG_PM depend on (CONFIG_PM_SLEEP || CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME)", the
files under kernel/power are not built unless CONFIG_PM_SLEEP or
CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME is set.  In particular, this causes
kernel/power/poweroff.c to be omitted, even though it should be
compiled, because CONFIG_MAGIC_SYSRQ is set.

Fix the problem by causing kernel/power/Makefile to be processed
for CONFIG_PM unset too.

kconfig/streamline-config.pl: Fix parsing Makefile with variables

Thomas Lange reported that when he did a 'make localmodconfig', his
config was missing the brcmsmac driver, even though he had the module
loaded.

Looking into this, I found the file:
drivers/net/wireless/brcm80211/brcmsmac/Makefile
had the following in the Makefile:

MODULEPFX := brcmsmac

obj-$(CONFIG_BRCMSMAC)  += $(MODULEPFX).o

The way streamline-config.pl works, is parsing all the
 obj-$(CONFIG_FOO) += foo.o
lines to find that CONFIG_FOO belongs to the module foo.ko.

But in this case, the brcmsmac.o was not used, but a variable in its place.

By changing streamline-config.pl to remember defined variables in Makefiles
and substituting them when they are used in the obj-X lines, allows
Thomas (and others) to have their brcmsmac module stay configured
when it is loaded and running "make localmodconfig".
