net: sock_rps_record_flow() is for connected sockets
Paolo noticed a cache line miss in UDP recvmsg() to access
sk_rxhash, sharing a cache line with sk_drops.
sk_drops might be heavily incremented by cpus handling a flood targeting
this socket.
We might place sk_drops on a separate cache line, but lets try
to avoid wasting 64 bytes per socket just for this, since we have
other bottlenecks to take care of.
sock_rps_record_flow() should only access sk_rxhash for connected
flows.
Testing sk_state for TCP_ESTABLISHED covers most of the cases for
connected sockets, for a zero cost, since system calls using
sock_rps_record_flow() also access sk->sk_prot which is on the
same cache line.
A follow up patch will provide a static_key (Jump Label) since most
hosts do not even use RFS.

tun: Use netif_receive_skb instead of netif_rx
This patch changes tun.c to call netif_receive_skb instead of netif_rx
when a packet is received (if CONFIG_4KSTACKS is not enabled to avoid
stack exhaustion). The difference between the two is that netif_rx queues
the packet into the backlog, and netif_receive_skb proccesses the packet
in the current context.
This patch is required for syzkaller [1] to collect coverage from packet
receive paths, when a packet being received through tun (syzkaller collects
coverage per process in the process context).
As mentioned by Eric this change also speeds up tun/tap. As measured by
Peter it speeds up his closed-loop single-stream tap/OVS benchmark by
about 23%, from 700k packets/second to 867k packets/second.
A similar patch was introduced back in 2010 [2, 3], but the author found
out that the patch doesn't help with the task he had in mind (for cgroups
to shape network traffic based on the original process) and decided not to
go further with it. The main concern back then was about possible stack
exhaustion with 4K stacks.

shmem: fix shm fallocate() list corruption
The shmem hole punching with fallocate(FALLOC_FL_PUNCH_HOLE) does not
want to race with generating new pages by faulting them in.
However, the wait-queue used to delay the page faulting has a serious
problem: the wait queue head (in shmem_fallocate()) is allocated on the
stack, and the code expects that "wake_up_all()" will make sure that all
the queue entries are gone before the stack frame is de-allocated.
And that is not at all necessarily the case.
Yes, a normal wake-up sequence will remove the wait-queue entry that
caused the wakeup (see "autoremove_wake_function()"), but the key
wording there is "that caused the wakeup". When there are multiple
possible wakeup sources, the wait queue entry may well stay around.
And _particularly_ in a page fault path, we may be faulting in new pages
from user space while we also have other things going on, and there may
well be other pending wakeups.
So despite the "wake_up_all()", it's not at all guaranteed that all list
entries are removed from the wait queue head on the stack.
Fix this by introducing a new wakeup function that removes the list
entry unconditionally, even if the target process had already woken up
for other reasons. Use that "synchronous" function to set up the
waiters in shmem_fault().
This problem has never been seen in the wild afaik, but Dave Jones has
reported it on and off while running trinity. We thought we fixed the
stack corruption with the blk-mq rq_list locking fix (commit
7fe311302f7d: "blk-mq: update hardware and software queues for sleeping
alloc"), but it turns out there was _another_ stack corruptor hiding
in the trinity runs.
Vegard Nossum (also running trinity) was able to trigger this one fairly
consistently, and made us look once again at the shmem code due to the
faults often being in that area.

net: hns: Fix to conditionally convey RX checksum flag to stack
This patch introduces the RX checksum function to check the
status of the hardware calculated checksum and its error and
appropriately convey status to the upper stack in skb->ip_summed

In hardware, we only support checksum for the following
protocols:
1) IPv4,
2) TCP(over IPv4 or IPv6),
3) UDP(over IPv4 or IPv6),
4) SCTP(over IPv4 or IPv6)
but we support many L3(IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, PPPoE etc) and
L4(TCP, UDP, GRE, SCTP, IGMP, ICMP etc.) protocols.
Hardware limitation:
Our present hardware RX Descriptor lacks L3/L4 checksum
"Status & Error" bit (which usually can be used to indicate whether
checksum was calculated by the hardware and if there was any error
encountered during checksum calculation).
Software workaround:
We do get info within the RX descriptor about the kind of
L3/L4 protocol coming in the packet and the error status. These
errors might not just be checksum errors but could be related to
version, length of IPv4, UDP, TCP etc.
Because there is no-way of knowing if it is a L3/L4 error due
to bad checksum or any other L3/L4 error, we will not (cannot)
convey hardware checksum status(CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY) for such
cases to upper stack and will not maintain the RX L3/L4 checksum
counters as well.

calculations seem to suggest that after just 11 ACKs the cwnd would be
down to a minimal value of 2 [..]
2) That seems to contradict another passage in the draft [..] where it
sazs:
Just as specified in [RFC3168], DCTCP does not react to congestion
indications more than once for every window of data.
Neal is right. Fortunately we don't have to complicate this by testing
vs. current rtt estimate, we can just revert the patch.
Normal stack already handles this for us: receiving ACKs with ECE
set causes a call to tcp_enter_cwr(), from there on the ssthresh gets
adjusted and prr will take care of cwnd adjustment.

Merge branch 'mv88e6xxx-rework-reset-and-PPU-code'

====================
net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: rework reset and PPU code
Old Marvell chips (like
88E6060) don't have a PHY Polling Unit (PPU).
Next chips (like
88E6185) have a PPU, which has exclusive access to the
PHY registers, thus must be disabled before access.
Newer chips (like
88E6352) have an indirect mechanism to access the PHY
registers whenever, thus loose control over the PPU (always enabled).
Here's a summary:
Model | PPU? | Has PPU ctrl? | PPU state readable? | PHY access
----- | ---- | -------------- | ------------------- | ----------
6060 | no | no | no | direct
6185 | yes | yes, PPUEn bit | yes, PPUState 2-bit | direct w/ PPU dis.
6352 | yes | no | yes, PPUState 1-bit | indirect
6390 | yes | no | yes, InitState bit | indirect
Depending on the PPU control, a switch may have to restart the PPU when
resetting the switch. Once the switch is reset, we must wait for the PPU
state to be active polling again before accessing the registers.
For that purpose, add new operations to the chips to enable/disable the
PPU, and execute software reset. With these new ops in place, rework the
switch reset code and finally get rid of the MV88E6XXX_FLAG_PPU* flags.
Changes in v3:
- consider 6097 as 6352 (no PPU ops and use mv88e6352_g1_reset).
Changes in v2:
- wait in ppu/reset ops so that ppu_polling is not needed anymore.

Merge branch 'Alacritech-SLIC-driver'
Lino Sanfilippo says:
====================
Gigabit ethernet driver for Alacritechs SLIC devices (v4)
this is the forth version of the slicoss gigabit ethernet driver (which is a
rework of the driver from Alacritech which can currently be found under
drivers/staging/slicoss). The driver is supposed to support Mojave, Oasis and
Kalahari cards, for both copper and fiber.
If this code is accepted the staging version can be removed.
The driver has been tested on a SEN2104ET adapter (4 Port PCIe copper).
v4:
- fix wrong driver name in Kconfig file (reported by Rami Rosen)
- remove unused variable from driver struct (reported by Rami Rosen)
- return "err" instead of 0 in slic_load_rcvseq_firmware() (reported by Rami Rosen)
- Fix typos in constants, comments and error message (reported by Markus Böhme)
- fix various warnings concerning signedness (reported by Markus Böhme)
- improve line formatting (reported by Markus Böhme)
- add comment describing the need for SLIC_MAX_TX_COMPLETIONS (suggested by Florian Fainelli)
- do not zero out complete rx descriptor (suggested by Florian Fainelli)
- add missing write barrier (reported by Florian Fainelli)
- remove unneeded assignment of net_device to skb (reported by Florian Fainelli)
- use napi_complete_done() instead of napi_complete (suggested by Florian Fainelli)
- use napi_schedule_irqoff() instead of napi_schedule (suggested by Florian Fainelli)
- do not map error returned by slic_init() to -ENOMEM
- do proper dma syncs before and after rx descriptor status is set to 0
- if after dma sync for CPU rx descriptor is not used return it to HW by means of dma sync for device
v3:
- dont add defines to pci_ids.h but instead put it into the drivers header file
(requested by Greg Kroah-Hartman)
v2:
- remove unusual padding in statistic strings (suggested by Andrew Lunn)
- for mdio register and bit names use defines from mii.h instead of own ones
(suggested by Andrew Lunn)
- remove unused defines
- ensure PCI flush at two more places
- use mmiowb before lock to prevent mmio writes leaking out of lock
- fix some typos in comments
- add copyright and GPL header

tcp: warn on bogus MSS and try to amend it
There have been some reports lately about TCP connection stalls caused
by NIC drivers that aren't setting gso_size on aggregated packets on rx
path. This causes TCP to assume that the MSS is actually the size of the
aggregated packet, which is invalid.
Although the proper fix is to be done at each driver, it's often hard
and cumbersome for one to debug, come to such root cause and report/fix
it.
This patch amends this situation in two ways. First, it adds a warning
on when this situation occurs, so it gives a hint to those trying to
debug this. It also limit the maximum probed MSS to the adverised MSS,
as it should never be any higher than that.
The result is that the connection may not have the best performance ever
but it shouldn't stall, and the admin will have a hint on what to look
for.
Tested with virtio by forcing gso_size to 0.
v2: updated msg per David's suggestion
v3: use skb_iif to find the interface and also log its name, per Eric
Dumazet's suggestion. As the skb may be backlogged and the interface
gone by then, we need to check if the number still has a meaning.
v4: use helper tcp_gro_dev_warn() and avoid pr_warn_once inside __once, per
David's suggestion

bpf: add prog_digest and expose it via fdinfo/netlink
When loading a BPF program via bpf(2), calculate the digest over
the program's instruction stream and store it in struct bpf_prog's
digest member. This is done at a point in time before any instructions
are rewritten by the verifier. Any unstable map file descriptor
number part of the imm field will be zeroed for the hash.
fdinfo example output for progs:
# cat /proc/1590/fdinfo/5
pos: 0
flags:
02000002

prog_type: 1
prog_jited: 1
prog_digest:
b27e8b06da22707513aa97363dfb11c7c3675d28
memlock: 4096
When programs are pinned and retrieved by an ELF loader, the loader
can check the program's digest through fdinfo and compare it against
one that was generated over the ELF file's program section to see
if the program needs to be reloaded. Furthermore, this can also be
exposed through other means such as netlink in case of a tc cls/act
dump (or xdp in future), but also through tracepoints or other
facilities to identify the program. Other than that, the digest can
also serve as a base name for the work in progress kallsyms support
of programs. The digest doesn't depend/select the crypto layer, since
we need to keep dependencies to a minimum. iproute2 will get support
for this facility.

on each rx ring to be of maximal size prior to transitioning the
interface into up state.
To fix this, make a rough estimation about the number of buffers.
It wouldn't always be accurate, but it would be much better than
current estimation and would allow users to increase number of
buffers during early initialization of the interface.

====================
tcp: tsq: performance series
Under very high TX stress, CPU handling NIC TX completions can spend
considerable amount of cycles handling TSQ (TCP Small Queues) logic.
This patch series avoids some atomic operations, but most notable
patch is the 3rd one, allowing other cpus processing ACK packets and
calling tcp_write_xmit() to grab TCP_TSQ_DEFERRED so that
tcp_tasklet_func() can skip already processed sockets.
This avoid lots of lock acquisitions and cache lines accesses,
particularly under load.
In v2, I added :
- tcp_small_queue_check() change to allow 1st and 2nd packets
in write queue to be sent, even in the case TX completion of
already acknowledged packets did not happen yet.
This helps when TX completion coalescing parameters are set
even to insane values, and/or busy polling is used.
- A reorganization of struct sock fields to
lower false sharing and increase data locality.
- Then I moved tsq_flags from tcp_sock to struct sock also
to reduce cache line misses during TX completions.
I measured an overall throughput gain of 22 % for heavy TCP use
over a single TX queue.

IPv4 FIB suffix length fixes
In reviewing the patch from Robert Shearman and looking over the code I
realized there were a few different bugs we were still carrying in the IPv4
FIB lookup code.
These two patches are based off of Robert's original patch, but take things
one step further by splitting them up to address two additional issues I
found.
So first have Robert's original patch which was addressing the fact that
us calling update_suffix in resize is expensive when it is called per add.
To address that I incorporated the core bit of the patch which was us
dropping the update_suffix call from resize.
The first patch in the series does a rename and fix on the push_suffix and
pull_suffix code. Specifically we drop the need to pass a leaf and
secondly we fix things so we pull the suffix as long as the value of the
suffix in the node is dropping.
The second patch addresses the original issue reported as well as
optimizing the code for the fact that update_suffix is only really meant to
go through and clean things up when we are decreasing a suffix. I had
originally added code for it to somehow cause an increase, but if we push
the suffix when a new leaf is added we only ever have to handle pulling
down the suffix with update_suffix so I updated the code to reflect that.
As far as side effects the only ones I think that will be obvious should be
the fact that some routes may be able to be found earlier since before we
relied on resize to update the suffix lengths, and now we are updating them
before we add or remove the leaf.

ipv4: Drop suffix update from resize code
It has been reported that update_suffix can be expensive when it is called
on a large node in which most of the suffix lengths are the same. The time
required to add 200K entries had increased from around 3 seconds to almost
49 seconds.
In order to address this we need to move the code for updating the suffix
out of resize and instead just have it handled in the cases where we are
pushing a node that increases the suffix length, or will decrease the
suffix length.

ipv4: Drop leaf from suffix pull/push functions
It wasn't necessary to pass a leaf in when doing the suffix updates so just
drop it. Instead just pass the suffix and work with that.
Since we dropped the leaf there is no need to include that in the name so
the names are updated to node_push_suffix and node_pull_suffix.
Finally I noticed that the logic for pulling the suffix length back
actually had some issues. Specifically it would stop prematurely if there
was a longer suffix, but it was not as long as the original suffix. I
updated the code to address that in node_pull_suffix.
