 "The changes for i2c-embedded include:

   - massive rework of the omap driver
   - massive rework of the at91 driver.  In fact, the old driver gets
     removed; I am okay with this approach since the old driver was
     depending on BROKEN and its limitations made it practically
     unusable, so people used bitbanging instead.  But even if there are
     users, there is no platform_data or module parameter which would
     need to be converted.  It is just another driver doing I2C
     transfers, just way better.  Modifications of arch/arm/at91 related
     files have proper acks from the maintainer.
   - new driver for R-Car I2C
   - devicetree and generic_clock conversions and fixes
   - usual driver fixes and changes.

  The rework patches have come a long way and lots of people have been
  involved in creating/testing them.  Most patches have been in
  linux-next at least since 3.6-rc5.  A few have been added in the last
  week, I have to admit.

  An unexpected (but welcome :)) peak in private life is the cause for
  that.  The "late" patches shouldn't cause any merge conflicts and I
  will have a special eye on them during the stabilization phase.  This
  is an exception and I want to have the patches in place properly in
  time again for the next kernels."

autofs4 - fix reset pending flag on mount fail

In autofs4_d_automount(), if a mount fail occurs the AUTOFS_INF_PENDING
mount pending flag is not cleared.

One effect of this is when using the "browse" option, directory entry
attributes show up with all "?"s due to the incorrect callback and
subsequent failure return (when in fact no callback should be made).

memcg, kmem: fix build error when CONFIG_INET is disabled

Commit e1aab161e013 ("socket: initial cgroup code.") causes a build
error when CONFIG_INET is disabled in Linus' tree:

  net/built-in.o: In function `sk_update_clone':
  net/core/sock.c:1336: undefined reference to `sock_update_memcg'

sock_update_memcg() is only defined when CONFIG_INET is enabled, so fix
it by defining the dummy function without this option.

rtc: kconfig: fix RTC_INTF defaults connected to RTC_CLASS

Commit 6b8029fab641 ("rtc: kconfig: remove unnecessary dependencies")
removed various 'depends on RTC_CLASS' dependencies but also removed a
few 'default RTC_CLASS' statements, which actually changed default
behavior.

This resulted in the various RTC interfaces (sysfs, proc, dev) all being
disabled by default, even when RTC_CLASS is enabled:

   # CONFIG_RTC_INTF_SYSFS is not set
   # CONFIG_RTC_INTF_PROC is not set
   # CONFIG_RTC_INTF_DEV is not set

which is different from previous behavior (all of these where enabled.)

To fix, add back the 'default RTC_CLASS' statments to each of the
RTC_INTF_* options.

I noticed this because some RTC tests started failing on my TI OMAP
platforms because /dev/rtc0 was not present anymore, even though the
driver was present and RTC_CLASS was enabled.

lib/kasprintf.c: use kmalloc_track_caller() to get accurate traces for kvasprintf

Previously kvasprintf() allocation was being done through kmalloc(),
thus producing an inaccurate trace report.

This is a common problem: in order to get accurate callsite tracing, a
lib/utils function shouldn't allocate kmalloc but instead use
kmalloc_track_caller.

rapidio: update asynchronous discovery initialization

Update discovery process initialization based on Andrew Morton's comments:

This update processes all enumerating mports first and schedules discovery
work after that. If the initialization routine fails to allocate resources

{get,clear,set}_pageblock_skip() use incorrect bit ranges (please compare
to bit ranges used by {get,set}_pageblock_flags() used for migration

tpm: Propagate error from tpm_transmit to fix a timeout hang

tpm_write calls tpm_transmit without checking the return value and
assigns the return value unconditionally to chip->pending_data, even if
it's an error value.
This causes three bugs.

So if we write to /dev/tpm0 with a tpm_param_size bigger than
TPM_BUFSIZE=0x1000 (e.g. 0x100a)
and a bufsize also bigger than TPM_BUFSIZE (e.g. 0x100a)
tpm_transmit returns -E2BIG which is assigned to chip->pending_data as
-7, but tpm_write returns that TPM_BUFSIZE bytes have been successfully
been written to the TPM, altough this is not true (bug #1).

As we did write more than than TPM_BUFSIZE bytes but tpm_write reports
that only TPM_BUFSIZE bytes have been written the vfs tries to write
the remaining bytes (in this case 10 bytes) to the tpm device driver via
tpm_write which then blocks at

 /* cannot perform a write until the read has cleared
 either via tpm_read or a user_read_timer timeout */
 while (atomic_read(&chip->data_pending) != 0)
 msleep(TPM_TIMEOUT);

for 60 seconds, since data_pending is -7 and nobody is able to
read it (since tpm_read luckily checks if data_pending is greater than
0) (#bug 2).

After that the remaining bytes are written to the TPM which are
interpreted by the tpm as a normal command. (bug #3)
So if the last bytes of the command stream happen to be a e.g.
tpm_force_clear this gets accidentally sent to the TPM.

This patch fixes all three bugs, by propagating the error code of
tpm_write and returning -E2BIG if the input buffer is too big,
since the response from the tpm for a truncated value is bogus anyway.
Moreover it returns -EBUSY to userspace if there is a response ready to be
read.

vfio: Fix PCI INTx disable consistency

The virq_disabled flag tracks the userspace view of INTx masking
across interrupt mode changes, but we're not consistently applying
this to the interrupt and masking handler notion of the device.
Currently if the user sets DisINTx while in MSI or MSIX mode, then
returns to INTx mode (ex. rebooting a qemu guest), the hardware has
DisINTx+, but the management of INTx thinks it's enabled, making it
impossible to actually clear DisINTx.  Fix this by updating the
handler state when INTx is re-enabled.

vfio: Move PCI INTx eventfd setting earlier

We need to be ready to recieve an interrupt as soon as we call
request_irq, so our eventfd context setting needs to be moved
earlier.  Without this, an interrupt from our device or one
sharing the interrupt line can pass a NULL into eventfd_signal
and oops.

driver/char/tpm: fix regression causesd by ppi

This patch try to fix the S3 regression https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/5/433,
which includes below line:
[ 1554.684638] sysfs: cannot create duplicate filename '/devices/pnp0/00:0c/ppi'

The root cause is that ppi sysfs teardown code is MIA, so while S3 resume,
the ppi kobject will be created again upon existing one.

To make the tear down code simple, change the ppi subfolder creation from
using kobject_create_and_add to just using a named ppi attribute_group. Then
ppi sysfs teardown could be done with a simple sysfs_remove_group call.

Adjusted the name & return type for ppi sysfs init function.

hwmon: Add missing inclusions of <linux/jiffies.h>

Many hwmon drivers use jiffies but omit the inclusion of the header
file. Fix that, and also fix one driver which was including the header
file but didn't need it.

  The plan for 3.8 is to adapt all board files to provide a lookup table

  functions can be migrated to the new pwm_get() and pwm_put()
  functions.  Once this has been completed, the legacy API and the
  compatibility code in the core can be removed.

  In addition to the above, these changes also add support for
  configuring the polarity of a PWM signal (currently only supported on
  ECAP and EHRPWM) and include a much needed rework of the i.MX driver.
  Managed functions to obtain and release a PWM device (devm_pwm_get()
  and devm_pwm_put()) have been added and the pwm-backlight driver has
  been updated to use them.  If the PWM subsystem hasn't been enabled,
  dummy functions are provided that allow the subsystem to safely
  compile out.

  Some common checks on input parameters have been moved to the core and
  removed from the drivers.  Finally, a small fix corrects the
  description of the PWM specifier's second cell in the device tree
  representation."

driver support recently added OMAP-based SoCs.

The 'get_cpu_device' patch is needed due to a change in the OMAP

The usage of plat/*.h headers breaks single zImage, so platforms are
cleaning up and/or removing plat/*.h so the driver needs to be fixed
accordingly.

hppfs: fix the return value of get_inode()

In case of error, the function get_inode() returns ERR_PTR().
But the users hppfs_lookup() and hppfs_fill_super() use NULL
test for check the return value, not IS_ERR(), so we'd better
change the return value of get_inode() to NULL instead of
ERR_PTR().

ARM: pxa: armcore: fix PCI PIO warnings

The it8152 PCI host used on the pxa/cm_x2xx machines
uses the old-style I/O window registration. This should
eventually get converted to pci_ioremap_io() but for
now, let's cast the IT8152_IO_BASE constant to an integer
type to get rid of the warnings.

RDS: fix rds-ping spinlock recursion

This is the revised patch for fixing rds-ping spinlock recursion
according to Venkat's suggestions.

RDS ping/pong over TCP feature has been broken for years(2.6.39 to
3.6.0) since we have to set TCP cork and call kernel_sendmsg() between
ping/pong which both need to lock "struct sock *sk". However, this
lock has already been hold before rds_tcp_data_ready() callback is
triggerred. As a result, we always facing spinlock resursion which
would resulting in system panic.

Given that RDS ping is only used to test the connectivity and not for
serious performance measurements, we can queue the pong transmit to
rds_wq as a delayed response.

be2net: Remove code that stops further access to BE NIC based on UE bits

On certain platforms, BE hardware could  falsely indicate UE.
For BE family of NICs, do not set hw_error based on the UE bits.
If there was a real fatal error, the corresponding h/w block will
automatically go offline and stop traffic.

pch_gbe: Fix build error by selecting all the possible dependencies.

Fengguang reported a kernel build failure as following:

It's a regression by commit da1586461. The root cause is that
the CONFIG_PPS is not set there, consequently CONFIG_PTP_1588_CLOCK
can not be set anyway, which finally causes ptp_pch and pch_gbe_main
build failures.

As David prefers to use *select* to fix such module co-dependency issues,
this patch explicitly selects all the possible dependencies of PCH_PTP.

firewire: cdev: fix user memory corruption (i386 userland on amd64 kernel)

Fix two bugs of the /dev/fw* character device concerning the
FW_CDEV_IOC_GET_INFO ioctl with nonzero fw_cdev_get_info.bus_reset.
(Practically all /dev/fw* clients issue this ioctl right after opening
the device.)

Both bugs are caused by sizeof(struct fw_cdev_event_bus_reset) being 36
without natural alignment and 40 with natural alignment.

 1) Memory corruption, affecting i386 userland on amd64 kernel:
    Userland reserves a 36 bytes large buffer, kernel writes 40 bytes.
    This has been first found and reported against libraw1394 if
    compiled with gcc 4.7 which happens to order libraw1394's stack such
    that the bug became visible as data corruption.

 2) Information leak, affecting all kernel architectures except i386:
    4 bytes of random kernel stack data were leaked to userspace.

Hence limit the respective copy_to_user() to the 32-bit aligned size of
struct fw_cdev_event_bus_reset.

ARM: assabet: fix bogus warning in get_assabet_scr (again)

Russell fixed this bogus warning before in 2f3eca8b4f "Shut up gcc
warning in assabet.c", but apparently gcc has become smarter (or dumber)
since 2005, and the same warning came up again.

This uses the uninitialized_var() macro to convince gcc that the
variable is actually being initialized. 100 times in fact.

Without this patch, building assabet_defconfig results in:

ARM: shmobile: mark shmobile_init_late as __init

Patch 35f2b0bd59 "ARM: shmobile: Move definition of shmobile_init_late()
to header" moved the definition of the shmobile_init_late function, but
dropped the __init annotation, which is now causing warnings because
the function calls shmobile_suspend_init, which is also marked init.

Without this patch, building kota2_defconfig results in:

The function shmobile_init_late() references

Btrfs: make filesystem read-only when submitting barrier fails

So far the return code of barrier_all_devices() is ignored, which
means that errors are ignored. The result can be a corrupt
filesystem which is not consistent.
This commit adds code to evaluate the return code of
barrier_all_devices(). The normal btrfs_error() mechanism is used to
switch the filesystem into read-only mode when errors are detected.

In order to decide whether barrier_all_devices() should return
error or success, the number of disks that are allowed to fail the
barrier submission is calculated. This calculation accounts for the
worst RAID level of metadata, system and data. If single, dup or
RAID0 is in use, a single disk error is already considered to be
fatal. Otherwise a single disk error is tolerated.

The calculation of the number of disks that are tolerated to fail
the barrier operation is performed when the filesystem gets mounted,
when a balance operation is started and finished, and when devices
are added or removed.

Btrfs: make compress and nodatacow mount options mutually exclusive

If a filesystem is mounted with compression and then remounted by adding nodatacow,
the compression is disabled but the compress flag is still visible.
Also, if a filesystem is mounted with nodatacow and then remounted with compression,
nodatacow flag is still present but it's not active.
This patch:
- removes compress flags and notifies that the compression has been disabled if the
  filesystem is mounted with nodatacow
- removes nodatacow and nodatasum flags if mounted with compress.

Btrfs: don't commit instead of overcommitting

I don't think we have the same problem that this was supposed to fix
originally since we can allocate chunks in the enospc path now.  This code
is causing us to constantly commit the transaction as we get close to using
all of our available space in our currently allocated chunks, instead of
allocating another chunk and carrying on with life, which is not nice for

Btrfs: cache extent state when writing out dirty metadata pages

Everytime we write out dirty pages we search for an offset in the tree,
convert the bits in the state, and then when we wait we search for the
offset again and clear the bits.  So for every dirty range in the io tree we
are doing 4 rb searches, which is suboptimal.  With this patch we are only
doing 2 searches for every cycle (modulo weird things happening).  Thanks,

Btrfs: do not hold the file extent leaf locked when adding extent item

For some reason we unlock everything except the leaf we are on, set the path
blocking and then add the extent item for the extent we just finished
writing.  I can't for the life of me figure out why we would want to do
this, and the history doesn't really indicate that there was a real reason
for it, so just remove it.  This will reduce our tree lock contention on
heavy writes.  Thanks,

Btrfs: do not async metadata csumming in certain situations

There are a coule scenarios where farming metadata csumming off to an async
thread doesn't help.  The first is if our processor supports crc32c, in
which case the csumming will be fast and so the overhead of the async model
is not worth the cost.  The other case is for our tree log.  We will be
making that stuff dirty and writing it out and waiting for it immediately.
Even with software crc32c this gives me a ~15% increase in speed with O_SYNC
workloads.  Thanks,

btrfs: fix min csum item size warnings in 32bit

commit 7ca4be45a0255ac8f08c05491c6add2dd87dd4f8 limited csum items to
PAGE_CACHE_SIZE.  It used min() with incompatible types in 32bit which
generates warnings:

fs/btrfs/file-item.c:717: warning: comparison of distinct pointer types lacks a cast

This uses min_t(u32,) to fix the warnings.  u32 seemed reasonable
because btrfs_root->leafsize is u32 and PAGE_CACHE_SIZE is unsigned
long.

Btrfs: run delayed refs first when out of space

Running delayed refs is faster than running delalloc, so lets do that first
to try and reclaim space.  This makes my fs_mark test about 20% faster.
